Terms of Use

These terms are meant to set expectations clearly. Strind is built to reduce interruption, but it is still a best-effort communication service, not an emergency or guaranteed-delivery system.

What Strind is

Strind is a communication-routing service that helps users receive selected messages on a dedicated device. The service includes account management, sender trust controls, quarantine, message categorization, adapter integrations, and related device features.

No emergency use

Do not use Strind as an emergency, medical, legal, or life-safety communication channel. Strind is not a substitute for 911, emergency dispatch, hospital systems, or any guaranteed-response service.

Best-effort delivery

Message delivery, categorization, quarantine, and adapter behavior are provided on a best-effort basis. Messages can be delayed, miscategorized, quarantined, missed, duplicated, or fail to arrive due to network conditions, upstream providers, hardware issues, software bugs, or other causes.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your account information accurate.
  • Manage your trusted contacts and sender policies thoughtfully.
  • Do not use Strind to send, coordinate, or facilitate threats, exploitation, criminal activity, abuse, or self-harm instructions.
  • Use hardware, firmware, and setup instructions carefully and at your own risk.
  • Decide for yourself whether Strind is appropriate for your use case.

Safety screening

Strind may use automated safety screening, including self-hosted AI and lightweight heuristics, to detect credible indicators of self-harm, violence, exploitation, or illegal activity. Message content may be decrypted briefly inside Strind systems for routing, prioritization, quarantine, delivery, reply suggestions, and safety checks. Flagged messages may be reviewed by Strind operators and, when legally required or appropriate to protect people from imminent harm, may be preserved or reported to relevant authorities.

Inactive accounts

Accounts that do not confirm their email within 15 days may be permanently deleted after reminder emails. Accounts that confirm email but do not link a Strind device within 45 days may also be permanently deleted after reminder emails. This keeps the service clean and reduces bot abuse.

Hardware and firmware

Early Strind currently runs on third-party hardware such as the M5Stack Core2. Flashing firmware and using third-party hardware always carries some risk. Strind does not guarantee compatibility with every cable, machine, browser, or hardware revision.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Strind is provided without warranties of uninterrupted availability, perfect routing, or guaranteed fitness for a particular purpose. Strind will not be liable for missed messages, business interruption, lost opportunities, indirect damages, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Changes

The product is evolving. We may change adapters, routing behavior, setup methods, and these terms as the service matures. Continued use of Strind after changes means you accept the updated terms.
